Free Lectures from GNYIPA Begin November 15

The Greater New York Publishers Association (GNYIPA) again offers several FREE lectures of interest to writers and publishers. First, on November 15 at 1:30 PM at the New York Center for Independent Publishing (located at 20 West 44th Street) will be multi-award winning designer Richard Mantel, who will discuss cover design, followed by a question-and-answer session. In March, Brian Jud will speak about marketing. Also in the works are discussions on getting books into libraries and E-books.

Richard Mantel’s covers are dynamic, colorful, eye-catching and unforgettable. Richard, in his distinguished, award-winning career has served as Art Director for Columbia Records, Atlantic Records and CTI Records. He was a member of Push Pin Studios for five years, Special Sections Design Director for New York Magazine, and worked for over two years with Milton Glaser, Inc. He has won awards from The New York Art Director’s Club, The American Institute of Graphic Arts, the Type Directors Club, The Society of Illustrators, Communication Arts Magazine, Print Magazine, and Graphis Magazine. He was also honored with a Grammy for Best Record Jacket, a gold medal from The Society of Illustrators. The list goes on.
